Nottingham Forest have reportedly agreed on a £5 million transfer fee with French club Troyes to sign defender Giulian Biancone subject to passing a medical.
The former French under-19 international would be a versatile option for Steve Copper due to his ability to play as a right-back and centre-back as well as a left-back at times. Biancone has made more than 100 club appearances across three different clubs in the Belgian and French top flights despite only turning 22 in March and is understood to be undergoing a medical today (Saturday, 2 July).
Signing the defender would be the Reds ' first addition at the back this summer, but it is not expected to be the last by any means. After Djed Spence returned to Middlesbrough and Tobias Figuriedo was released before being signed by Hull City, there is plenty of need for additions in front of whoever Forest's number one is next season.

The Athletic, as well as revealing the £5 million fee for Biancone, also report that the club are 'confident' that a deal for half that price can be agreed with Huddersfield Town to sign left-back Harry Toffolo. That comes after they reported earlier this week that the Reds were set to bid for the player.
The former England youth international made 48 appearances for the Terriers last season. which culminated by playing the full 90 minutes and being booked for diving against Forest in the Championship play-off final at Wembley. Toffolo's contract was due to expire this summer, but the west Yorkshire club triggered a one-year extension to avoid losing the defender on a free transfer and now could pocket £2.5 million from Forest.
It is also claimed that the club are 'thrashing out a deal' to sign Mainz captain Moussa Niakhate. The Reds were last week reported as having resumed talks with the German club about a transfer for their 26-year-old centre-back.
