Nottingham Forest told great expectations ahead of Premier League return

Nottingham Forest are set to commence an exciting journey in the Premier League this season.

The 23-year wait is almost over for fans, as they prepare to support their team up and down the country - and for some, it will be the first time following the Reds in the top-flight of English football.

Without a doubt, Steve Cooper had a massive job on his hands from the moment he set foot into the club, succeeding Chris Hughton back in September, with Forest rock bottom of the Championship after losing six of their first seven games.

But the Welsh manager's belief surpassed all expectations as fans began to slowly see light at the end of the tunnel. And what had simply become a dream, later turned into reality as the club was put back where they belong. "I’m so glad everybody at the club gets to do their job in the Premier League," Cooper said at the end of the season.

"I'm tough with them [the players], I’m challenging, demanding, but I’m with them, I’m with them 100% and that’s how you get the best out of people and get the best out of themselves. But I’ve felt it back as well. I’ve asked them to trust me and never once have they wavered.

"They’ve fought back, and in a really attractive way. The first objective was to get out of the relegation zone. And there were times I was thinking we’re not making much progress here, and maybe we won’t get into the top 10. It’s been brilliant to be a part of it from day one. It takes a group of men to get off the canvas and fight back, and that’s what they’ve done. Everyone’s probably looked down their nose at them where they were.

"It’s such a nostalgic, brilliant, massive club that everyone knows. I’m so delighted we can go to the Premier League and the supporters and everyone connected to the club can experience that. It’s been a brilliant season, the players have provided a fantastic attitude and culture, and the training ground is such a good laugh; there’s a real pride and togetherness."

Ahead of a promising season, here is what some Reds faithful expect from their club...

Paul Fletcher: "To watch good football in amazing atmosphere with the best fans in the country. Would be happy to consolidate our place in the Premier League 1st and foremost. Anything else would be a huge bonus."

Tim: "Hopefully mid table in 1st season."

Der Kaiser: "Top 10 is definitely achievable, we won't get relegated. A good season ahead!"

The Adventurous Vlogger: "7th from bottom."

Ed034: "To enjoy supporting my club."

NFFC journo: "Top 6."

Richard Pacey: "Mid table."

Mark: "Right then, NFFC to finish top-four. Qualify for CL then win it the next season."

Jake Leewhalin: "I'm going for 15th place to finish for the mighty Nottingham Forest."

Phil: "I truly believe Forest will finish 4th in the Premier League next season. But if we get relegated on 12 points I'll still be proud of the team and ready for the promotion push in 23/24."

Hannah Forest: "I think this team is capable of a top-10 finish in the Premier League, because if even the likes of Brighton and Brentford can stay up easily then why can't we?"
