Nottingham Forest are compiling a dossier of dodgy refereeing decisions against them to send to officials.
Forest are poised to make an official complaint to the Professional Game Match Officials Board after growing increasingly frustrated with refereeing this season.
Reds boss Steve Cooper was furious with the performance of referee John Brooks in Sunday’s Premier League 2-2 draw with Everton and said his display needed to be reviewed by chiefs. Cooper particularly criticised Brooks for awarding Everton a crucial foul in the run up to their second and also blowing up to book James Tarkowski when Morgan Gibbs-White was set to run clear.
There have been other incidents this term have infuriated Forest too, including the 2-2 draw with Brentford in November when referee Andre Marriner failed to award a penalty for a foul by Ben Mee on Gibbs-White.
In the same game, an independent panel later concluded that VAR should not have intervened when Brentford were given a penalty after Dean Henderson fouled Yoane Wissa.
Forest are also unhappy with a number of referee appointments made for matches since their long-awaited return to the Premier League. Cooper was fined £8,000 by the Football Association in November for comments he made about referee Thomas Bramall following the defeat at Wolves.
Brennan Johnson saved Forest on Sunday, scoring both goals in the draw with the struggling Toffees and Cooper is tipping the young Welshman to become a major star in the top flight.
“I see him every day and he wants to get better, so he won’t get too high or too low," said Cooper. “His goals were great and his performance was good. People are getting booked for tackling him, which means he’s taking risks and he had a really good impact in the game. He’s on an upward curve and took a bit of a rocky road before the break, but that was always going to happen.
“At the moment, he is performing really well and getting numbers. But, as always, it’s about continuing to improve. I know how committed he is and how much he wants to get better.
“There’s always a level to get to and a long way to go, which is natural for his age in his first year in the Premier League. But we are really pleased with Bren, he loves the club and is a local boy who grew up down the road. It is great to see him banging two in today.”
