Nottingham Forest to rival Liverpool for 'next Mohamed Salah' with ambitious transfer plan

Nottingham Forest are said to be rivalling Liverpool for the signature of Egyptian winger Ibrahim Adel, who is being hailed as 'the next Mohamed Salah'.

The 21-year-old is currently with Egyptian outfit Pyramids but has been linked with a move to Europe for over a year, with a host of European clubs following his progress.

Salah is believed to have made sure his bosses at Liverpool are fully aware of Adel's talent, with 90min reporting that their scouts were already familiar with him.

Adel was reportedly the subject of a £2million bid from Danish outfit FC Nordsjaelland over the summer. However, it fell short of Pyramids' valuation, which is believed to be at least £5m plus add-ons.

Pyramids have since handed a new long-term deal to Adel tying him to the club until 2026, but it is believed a January move is being weighed up by several sides, including Forest who have “been keeping an eye the 21-year-old”.

Arsenal, Brentford and Brighton are also said to be tracking the youngster.

90min report that the interested parties would look at doing a deal for Adel in January, before loaning him out to another side in Europe to enable him to qualify for a UK work permit.

The winger played a key role in his Pyramids’ second-placed finish in the Egyptian Premier League last season, scoring six goals and assisting another four to cement his status as one of the most exciting talents in Egyptian football.

Having represented Egypt at under-20 and under-23 level, Adel made his full debut for the Pharaohs in September 2021. He was part of the Egypt squad which finished as runners-up in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and was a member of their 2020 Olympics team.
