Nottingham Forest tipped to reignite transfer 'interest' as injury boost teased

A move to Nottingham Forest remains a possibility for attacking midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi, it has been claimed.

The Reds were linked with the Atalanta player during the summer transfer window, with Tottenham Hotspur and Marseille also reported to be keen. However, it was said the Serie A club’s 50 million euros price tag (about £44.6m) proved off-putting.

Forest went on to bolster their ranks with a total of 22 new additions, most recently bringing in free agent Serge Aurier after the window closed. But clubs are already starting to have one eye on January.

Special atmosphere

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Dean Henderson says the City Ground is one of the best atmospheres he has played in.

Although it has been a tricky start to the season for the Reds on their return to the Premier League, Henderson has been in fine form so far. The Manchester United loanee has impressed since linking up with Steve Cooper’s side in the summer, with his performances earning him an England call-up during the current international break.

He has quickly established a rapport with Forest fans, too. And there is clearly a mutual affection, with the 25-year-old grateful for the support from the stands.

Asked about the best atmospheres he has experienced, Henderson told Sky Sports: “Obviously Bramall Lane (during his Sheffield United loan) was top. But the City Ground was special; like, seriously special.

Defender tempted

Defender Mohamed Drager says it was “tempting” to try to stake his claim for a place with Nottingham Forest this season.

The right-back joined the Reds from Olympiacos little more than 12 months ago, but has not made a single appearance in the Garibaldi. After a spell at FC Luzern last season, he returned to the Swiss club on loan this summer, with an option to make the move a permanent one.

Drager has made six league appearances so far this season, with his aim to get regular game time as he targets a place in Tunisia’s World Cup squad. And he says it was with Qatar in mind that he wanted to go out on loan again, rather than try to force his way into Steve Cooper’s thinking at the City Ground.

Newspaper Blick report he “would have had a number of offers on the table”, including remaining at Forest and heading elsewhere on loan. But he was keen to remain in familiar territory.

Striker boost

Emmanuel Dennis has been spotted in training for Nottingham Forest as they prepare to face Leicester City in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old was called up by Nigeria as a replacement to Henry Onyekuru, though he later had to withdraw from international duty after picking up an injury. The Super Eagles later posted an update on Twitter stating he would miss out the friendly meeting against Algeria on Tuesday night.

No further details have been given on the striker's injury or how long he may be sidelined for. However, with preparations taking place ahead of the Premier League's return, he has been pictured in Forest training gear at the Nigel Doughty Academy in a photograph posted from the club's official Twitter account.

The Reds will make the trip to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester next Monday (October 3, 8pm kick-off). Three other players - Moussa Niakhate, Scott McKenna and Morgan Gibbs-White - are also doubts for the game.
