Nottingham Forest teenager tipped for 'big future' after Leeds United stunner

Teenage Nottingham Forest forward Dale Taylor has been tipped for a "big future" by Gary Brazil after scoring a stunner for the club's under-18s side against Leeds United this weekend.

The Northern Ireland senior international equalised for the youth side inside a quarter of an hour with a strike from distance that arrowed into the net at Leeds ' Thorp Arch training ground.

A further six goals were evenly split three apiece in West Yorkshire as the Under-18 Premier League contest ended in a thrilling 4-4 draw.

That sees the young Forest side rise to 12th in the 14 team North division.

The club's director of professional development, Brazil, picked out Taylor for particular praise after a clip of the stunning strike circulated on social media.

"Big NFFC future ahead for Dale," Brazil tweeted. "Strong, quick, intelligent and has an eye for goal.

"Lots of hard work ahead for our outstanding NFFC Academy PDP (professional development phase) staff to deliver, but he has the drive and character to go a long way in the game."

Brazil also welcomed the approval of plans to redevelop the training ground earlier in the week as a "big statement" that shows "desire to move" the academy forward.

This was a sentiment also shared by first team head coach Steve Cooper.

“Any time that you invest or try to improve any sort of facility is a really positive message,” Cooper told NottinghamshireLive.

“It’s another good show of intent from the ownership and how they want to strive for improvement.

“It’s a show of ambition and long-term sustainability. You need a purposeful training ground. It doesn’t have to be all-singing and all-dancing to make you do a good job, but it definitely needs to be of a standard to help you achieve.

“I like this training ground. I like the spirit. I like how it brings people together with the interaction."
