Nottingham Forest striker sent classy message after major contract decision

Nottingham Forest fans have reacted to the news that striker Lewis Grabban looks set to leave the City Ground this summer.

The 34-year-old is out of contract with the club after his deal expired at the end of last month. He has been in talks over putting pen to paper on a new contract, but his four years at the club look to be coming to an end.

It is reported that the striker has turned down a contract offer from Forest and will now look for a new club during the transfer window. He played a total of 149 times for the club, scoring 56 goals and wore the captain’s armband last season.

Steve Cooper has already strengthened his attacking options this summer by signing Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin, but could be on the lookout for more additions given that Keinan Davis has returned to Aston Villa after a loan spell last season.

Following the news of Grabban ’s decision not to extend his time at the City Ground, Forest fans were quick to send messages to the striker. Here’s what just some had to say.

Jordan Hooley : Samba and Grabban leaving in the same transfer window is heartbreaking #nffc

The Hermit of Sherwood : Lewis Grabban has been a top servant for the club, he should be a no brainer for a Championship club, all the best for the future Grabs and thanks for the memories #NFFC

Sam Crawford : feared this may happen. Thanks for everything Grabbs you've been a great servant to the club

Will be interesting to see who we turn to as another striker option off the back of this

#NFFC

Richard Pacey : Gutted to hear grabban has turned down his contract offer. Genuinely have massive respect for grabbs and hope he gets his move #nffc

Claire : Sad to see Grabban won’t be signing a new contract with Forest but I guess he leaves on a high after winning promotion. Probably the best kind of memory to leave with. All the best Grabbs #nffc

Holly Victoria : Will be very sad to see Lewis Grabban leave the club after everything he's done for us as think he would have been great to have around the dressing room this coming season but in reality it's probably the best decision all round. Thank you for everything Grabs #NFFC

YouAreMyForest : Grabban's record at #nffc has been outstanding. Scored a lot of important goals for us. Probably never really got the love that his goals deserved. Thanks for the service and goals Lewis and good luck for the future.

Nikki : Nothing bad to say about the guy, he’s been incredible for us. Can’t blame him for wanting a bit of playing time to end his career, and we save on wages. Seems a good move all round #nffc

Callum : Easily the best striker I have seen during my time going to Forest. Often under appreciated but his goal record speaks for itself. Probably the best decision for both parties but wish him nothing but the best. #nffc
