Nottingham Forest striker 'added' to Championship club's wish list

Ipswich Town are reportedly interested in Nottingham Forest striker Sam Surridge.

Following their promotion to the Championship, Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna is understood to be prioritising signing a new striker this summer. According to our Mirror journalist Darren Witcoop, Ipswich have added Surridge to their wish list.

But they are not the only second division side to be credited with an interest in the Forest man. He adds that Everton frontman Ellis Simms still remains as a target for McKenna, while interest for Portsmouth's striker Colby Bishop has cooled.

Surridge made the switch from Stoke City to the City Ground for £2.2million in January last year. He played a part in the Reds' promotion to the Premier League, but has since falling down the pecking order.

The 24-year-old started just one game for Steve Cooper last season, and played just 305 minutes of Premier League football. Having spent much of last campaign coming on from the bench, Surridge may find regular game time difficult to come by again next season.

As he is set to enter the final year of his contract, it remains to be seen whether Forest will look at cashing in or will be open to sanctioning a loan transfer.

Reds boss Steve Cooper has spoken highly of Surridge previously. "We’re really fond of Sam," he said. "He’s been excellent since he’s come in. I can only say positive things about him. He works so hard, a really, really popular lad, a brilliant team-mate and has never let us down."
