Nottingham Forest defender Steve Cook revealed his father suffered a cardiac arrest shortly before defeat to Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
Cook posted the extraordinary tweet after the 1-0 loss as he conveyed his gratitude to paramedics for saving his father's life.
"First of all a big congratulations to @afcbournemouth on promotion but tonight I need to thank the paramedics at the game. Unfortunately my dad suffered a cardiac arrest just before the game and they managed to bring him back to life. I’ll forever be grateful for their actions," he wrote.

Cook delivered the classy message to former club Bournemouth after bravely playing through the game. Although he did not confirm if he was told of the desperate medical emergency before the match, he also suffered a cut to the head in the first half which bled profusely before he was stitched up at half time.
The central defender is regarded as a legend at Bournemouth, who secured promotion thanks to Kieffer Moore's late goal.
Seven minutes from time, a clever free-kick slotted in Moore, who fired past Samba. And although the Reds responded with a triple substitution, and even pushed Brice Samba up for a late corner kick, they could find no response in what had been a flat second half from Steve Cooper’s side.
Cook joined Forest on a free transfer from Bournemouth in January and has been outstanding ever since.
