Nottingham Forest ‘set sights’ on summer transfer after securing Premier League safety

Nottingham Forest are ‘eyeing’ a potential move for Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, according to reports in Italy.

With both Dean Henderson and Keylor Navas only on loan, Forest could be left searching for a new man to stand in goal next season. With the club are keen to make Henderson’s move from Manchester United permanent, that depends on the future of David De Gea at Old Trafford.

An alternative to Henderson could be Di Gregorio, who has caught the eye with his performances in Serie A this season. The 25-year-old has played in all but one of Monza’s league games this season, keeping 10 clean sheets as the side sit in eighth place with two games left to play.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio , Forest have now ‘ set their sights’ on the goalkeeper ahead of the summer transfer window, with the Reds already looking further into the possibility of signing him.

Forest can now press on with plans for the upcoming transfer window, having sealed their place in the Premier League for next season. A 1-0 win over Arsenal on Saturday moved Forest onto 37 points, six points clear of Leeds United in 18th place, with just one game of the season remaining.

It leaves Leicester City, Leeds United and Everton to battle it out for safety in the final game of the season with two of the three joining Southampton in the Championship next season. Forest, meanwhile can enjoy further celebrations when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Should they act on their interest, Forest could face competition from Jose Mourinho’s Roma, who are said to have made an enquiry about the goalkeeper as a possible replacement for Rui Patricio. Roma could potentially offer Champions League football, with the Italian side taking on Sevilla in the Europa League final at the end of the month.
