Unique Forest friendship rekindled
Striker Taiwo Awoniyi’s return to full training has gone down a storm with Nottingham Forest fans - and with one of his teammates, in particular, too.
Emmanuel Dennis is delighted to see his fellow Nigerian back on the grass. Not least because it has provided the duo with a chance to renew an old friendly rivalry.
The pair are great friends, having known each other since they were young when their paths crossed on opposing teams in their homeland and with the national side. They then went on to spend a lot of time together when they played in Belgium.
Dennis says Awoniyi played a part in his summer move to the City Ground by messaging him. And he has enjoyed sharing a dressing room since, even if they do get some funny looks from the rest of the squad.

Defender sends clear Steve Cooper message
Nottingham Forest full-back Harry Toffolo has said the club were right to stick by Steve Cooper when there were questions asked over the manager’s future earlier in the season.
The Reds’ boss was under pressure at the City Ground after a disappointing start to the campaign which left them bottom of the Premier League table. But instead of dismissing Cooper, Forest handed the manager a new contract.
That brought an upturn in form and results which saw Forest move away from the relegation zone. The Reds have since been dragged back into the fight for survival due to recent results.
It has led to further speculation over the future of Cooper, with the manager said to be under pressure . But, Toffolo, who has found regular game time hard to come by since moving from Huddersfield to Forest in the summer, has sung the praises of the Reds’ boss.
Daniel Podence makes ‘brutal’ Nottingham Forest claim
Wolves goalscorer Daniel Podence believes there have been ‘brutal’ decisions go against his team in games against Nottingham Forest this season, following the 1-1 Premier League draw at the City Ground .
The winger drew Wolves level with just seven minutes left to play on Saturday afternoon, cancelling out Brennan Johnson ’s first half goal. It means Wolves stay above Forest in the Premier League table, with just one point separating the two teams.
Following the game, Podence spoke to the media, where he made a comment about refereeing decisions over the meetings with Forest. The Wolves goalscorer also made a reference to former team mate Morgan Gibbs-White .
Cooper on Podence ‘spitting’ incident
Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper refused to get drawn into the debate over whether Daniel Podence should have seen red in an ill-tempered match at the City Ground .
The Wolverhampton Wanderers man appeared to spit in the direction of Reds ace Brennan Johnson towards the end of the 1-1 draw. VAR immediately checked for a possible dismissal, which came shortly after Podence had cancelled out Johnson’s opener, but no action was taken.
It was the second big flashpoint in the game, with assistant managers Alan Tate and the visitors’ Pablo Sanz having been sent off. The two sets of coaching staff clashed on the touchline when Wolves argued they should have had a penalty.
“I’ve seen it back and I’ve spoken to Brennan,” Cooper said of the Podence incident. “I’m not going to add any fuel to the fire because obviously there’s pictures and videos and things like that, so you have to trust the authorities now to deal with it.”
