Nottingham Forest receive striker transfer boost as bid 'accepted'

Swansea City are reportedly set to sign Blackpool striker Jerry Yates amid doubts over the future of Joel Piroe who has been linked with Nottingham Forest among other clubs.

The 23-year-old has scored 41 goals during the two seasons he has spent in the Championship since arriving at the Welsh club in July 2021 from PSV Eindhoven.

Previous reports have indicated that Forest have made "tentative enquires" about signing the Dutchman this summer.

BBC Sport have reported that Swansea are set to sign Yates after having a bid for the striker accepted, in a potential boost to the Reds' hopes of signing Piroe. The report states that the bid is "substantial" which indicates that they could be preparing for Piroe's departure.

Piroe told Eindhovens Dagblad in May: "Whether I will stay in Swansea for another year? There is a lot of speculation, but it remains to be seen whether something concrete will happen.

"It is nice to hear that clubs are interested. I mainly look at where I can play a lot and continue to take steps as a football player."

Swansea boss Michael Duff has also recently discussed Piroe's future at the club, saying: "I had some good conversations with Joel at our training camp in Spain. He was asking about detail in what I want from him.

"Until anything changes we will keep on having those conversations. If he goes, he goes, and if he doesn’t he stays – it is not personal, it’s football.

"I understand he’s the big name at the club and only has a year left on his contract. There will be plans in place in terms of the way we play if he stays, and plans for if he goes."
