An investigation into Everton cannot be fast-tracked by the Premier League according to reports amid the Toffees' relegation battle with Nottingham Forest.
The Merseysiders are being investigated over their financial fair play situation with the Reds, Leeds, Leicester City and Southampton all expressing concern that it might not be decided urgently.
All five clubs are also reportedly ready to pursue significant compensation if Everton avoid relegation this season according to Mirror Online.

And the Telegraph report that the Premier League cannot intervene while the investigation is ongoing. Relegated Southampton and the other clubs fighting relegation reportedly feel the decision behind the investigation into the Toffees should lead to a possible points deduction if they are found guilty.
It is understood the timeline for ongoing contemplations is made by an independent commission and the Premier League cannot impede the process after changes have been issued. Everton have already been charged by the Premier League, having recorded huge losses since just before the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
One club told the Telegraph that they are expecting the case to be resolved at the beginning of next season and fear it could be too little too late. Other potential punishments include a heavy fine, spending restrictions and the Premier League's decision to charge Everton was said to be significant.
The Toffees are currently a point above the relegation zone and two points behind Forest with two games left this season.
