Nottingham Forest promotion hero set for transfer to Olympiacos as Reds look elsewhere

Philip Zinckernagel will not be returning to Nottingham Forest next season following his successful loan spell.

The Watford midfielder is understood to be in Athens putting pen to paper on a three-year deal to join Olympiacos. The Danish international scored seven goals and registered 10 assists in 50 games last term as Forest won promotion to the Premier League.

Plenty of Reds fans will have hoped the 27-year-old would return to the City Ground following promotion and though he will join a club owned by Evangelos Marinakis, it will not be Forest. Zinckernagel will link up with a familiar face in Forest's current club record signing Joao Carvalho.

The attacking midfielder is looking increasingly likely to be part of the group of loan players who do not return to Forest as they look to establish themselves in the Premier League.

Djed Spence is likely to join Tottenham while the potential signing of Taiwo Awoniyi could end Forest's interest in Keinan Davis. It is also far from clear if James Garner or Max Lowe will be back from Manchester United and Sheffield United respectively.

In terms of further new signings, a loan deal with Dean Henderson is close. The Reds hope to include a clause in the deal to allow them to buy the Manchester United goalkeeper.

Forest also have strong interest in Wolves forward Morgan Gibbs-White, as well as Liverpool full back Neco Williams and Manchester City right-back Issa Kabore.
