Nottingham Forest promotion hero moves on as transfer confirmed

Former Nottingham Forest loanee Philip Zinckernagel has today signed a three-year contract at Olympiacos after agreeing to leave parent club Watford this summer. The 27-year-old was understood to be in the Greek capital earlier this week ahead of signing for the Piraeus-based club.

This move doubles the number of former Reds currently at Olympiacos, with Joao Carvalho joining back in January for an undisclosed fee. Zinckernagel and the Carvalho shared a pitch seven times for Forest and will be reacquainted in red at the Karaiskakis Stadium next season.

The Denmark international enjoyed an impressive loan spell at the City Ground last season, scoring six goals and assisting another 10 in 50 appearances across all competitions. He missed just five matches all season under both Steve Cooper and first Chris Hughton.

Olympiacos have now welcomed Zinckernagel to the club on their social media accounts, with the player pictured holding aloft a red and white scarf as well as posing next to a red Renault car. The current Greek champions, also owned by Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, won their third straight league title last season by twelve points and will compete in the Champions League qualifiers next month to secure a spot in the group stages.
