Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Philip Zinckernagel could be on the move again this summer, with Turkish side Trabzonspor chasing the player.
The 28-year-old was a key member of Steve Cooper ’s side who won promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs at the end of the 2021/22 season. He returned to parent club Watford the following summer before completing a permanent move to Olympiacos.
The transfer saw him link up with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns the Greek club. But his time in Greece didn’t go as he would have hoped, with a loan move to Standard Liege in Belgium following just two months later.

During his time in Belgium, Zinckernagel scored nine goals and provided two assists in 24 Juliper Pro League appearances. He also scored once in the league’s Europe play-offs.
After impressing in Belgium, the midfielder is now set to return to Olympiacos ahead of the new season. How may not, however, stay long in Greece.
According to AKSAM Sport Turkish side Trabzonspor are making attempts to sign the player this summer. They are said to have already made a loan offer, but Marinakis’ side are more willing to do a permanent deal for the player.
Trabzonspor have, therefore, reportedly put aside a maximum budget of €1.5 million in order to complete the deal. The Turkish club are said to be keen to sign the player ‘as soon as possible’.
Zinckernagel is said to have already had talks with Olympiacos over his future. The player is said to be keen on a move back to Belgium, but there is still a possibility that the midfielder could stay and play a part for his parent club in the upcoming season.
