Here’s the latest Nottingham Forest news on Monday, October 10, 2022.
Steven Gerrard’s prediction
Steven Gerrard expects Aston Villa to be playing in a cauldron of noise at the City Ground on Monday night after Steve Cooper signed a new contract with Nottingham Forest in midweek.
Forest come into the game having lost their last five Premier League games and are winless in their last six. Manager Cooper has just signed a new deal to end speculation surrounding his future at the club, and Gerrard is anticipating a raucous atmosphere.
"I think the Forest fans have got right behind the manager," he said. "I think they've realised what he did for them when he came in.”

Gibbs-White on Cooper decision
Morgan Gibbs-White has admitted Nottingham Forest's playing squad are delighted that Steve Cooper has signed a new deal at the City Ground ahead of Monday night's vital match against Aston Villa.
Rumours had begun to circulate in the aftermath of Forest's 4-0 loss at Leicester that the club's hierarchy were considering a change in management, following five consecutive Premier League defeats.
In a bold demonstration of faith, however, it was announced that Cooper had signed a new contract to remain in the East Midlands until 2025.
Collymore sends Cooper advice
Former Nottingham Forest striker Stan Collymore believes Steve Cooper needs a "full and frank" conversation with Evangelos Marinakis during the World Cup.
Cooper signed a new three-year contract this week amid speculation that his time at the City Ground was coming to an end. His team sit bottom of the Premier League with just one win from their opening eight games.
On how Forest should be moving forward over the coming months, Collymore believes Cooper needs to sit down with the club's hierarchy and trim his first team squad so it is "sane and sensible". He has also backed Cooper to "fly" in the next one to two years.
Selection theory shared
Some Nottingham Forest fans think they have spotted a hint about one player who could start the Premier League clash against Aston Villa.
The Reds are back in action at the City Ground against Aston Villa on Monday night as they look to end a poor run of results. Steve Cooper ’s men know that a win would take them up into 18th place in the Premier League table.
One striker who is pushing for a start is Sam Surridge. He scored 10 goals last season as he helped Cooper’s team to earn promotion from the Championship, but has started just one Premier League game this season.
