Nottingham Forest plot 'double' transfer swoop as Keinan Davis update emerges

Head coach Steve Cooper has made it a priority to maintain the team spirit which was at the heart of Nottingham Forest’s promotion success last season.

It will be a much-changed Reds side which travels to Newcastle United for their opening game of the Premier League campaign next month. Six signings have already been made, with more to follow, while a number of players have departed.

However, Cooper has stressed the need for bringing in the right characters, as much as the right quality. And he is determined to once again create a dressing room with the same level of togetherness which proved so effective on the way to reaching the top-flight.

Double swoop

Nottingham Forest are attempting to pull off a double swoop at Huddersfield Town after reports claim the club have bid for a second Terriers player.

As reported by NottinghamshireLive yesterday, Steve Cooper is understood to have made an offer for central midfielder Lewis O’Brien. But now it has emerged that the Reds are also hoping to sign wing-back Harry Toffolo for a combined fee of £10m-£12million, according to The Athletic.

The report claims 23-year-old O’Brien would cost more, and that Toffolo is valued at a cut-price £2.5m by Forest because he is in the final year of his contract.

However, it article claims Huddersfield have a different valuation, with the Championship play-off finalists wanting in the region of £12m for O’Brien alone, and chairman Dean Hoyle is "determined to get the right price for his club".

'Talks' held

Nottingham Forest are said to have held talks over the possibility of re-signing Keinan Davis this summer.

The Aston Villa striker impressed in the Garibaldi when he spent the second half of last season on loan at the City Ground. Having joined on the opening day of the January transfer window, he played a key part in the Reds’ promotion to the Premier League.

Davis has previously said he would be open to putting pen to paper for Forest. And while he is part of Villa’s squad in Australia for pre-season, his future at the club is believed to be uncertain.

The Reds and Villa have held “cordial discussions” over a potential deal, according to the Telegraph. Although an agreement is not “imminent”, it is said there remains a chance the forward could yet link up with Steve Cooper’s squad again.

Potential departure

Nottingham Forest defender Richie Laryea is attracting interest from 'multiple' Major League Soccer clubs, according to reports.

Laryea's immediate future at the City Ground is in doubt after making just five appearances for Steve Cooper's side following his switch from Toronto FC in January. After the arrival of Liverpool right-back Neco Williams on Tuesday, Laryea is reportedly set to depart on loan this summer for regular game time ahead of the World Cup in Qatar this winter.

Vancouver Whitecaps and FC Dallas have been credited with an interest in the player's situation, with the Canadian also in "discussions with multiple teams in Europe," according to The Athletic. Laryea spent six years in the MLS with three of those at Orlando City as a midfielder before being converted to a right wing-back at Toronto.

In his 47 appearances at Toronto, he scored seven goals while assisting five. If he returns to America, he will be subject to the MLS allocation process, meaning that any interested team would likely need to 'trade up toward the top of the ranking' in order to acquire his services.
