Nottingham Forest have reportedly opened talks with Leicester City over a summer transfer for Kelechi Iheanacho, with the Nigerian at the ‘top of the list’.
The striker has been with Leicester since joining the club from Manchester City in the summer of 2017. He has just one year remaining on his contract at the King Power Stadium, meaning that the club could be prepared to sell the player instead of losing him for nothing next year.
As reported by French journalist Santi Aouna , Forest have ‘opened talks’ to sign Iheanacho this summer. He adds that the Reds want to ‘close the deal in the next days’.

It’s not reported the sort of fee that Leicester are looking for for the player. The Foxes paid a fee of £25 million to Man City when completing the signing.
In his time at the club, Iheanacho has played a total 206 games, scoring 55 goals and providing 33 assists. His goalscoring record is particularly good in the FA Cup, which he helped Leicester to win in 2021.
His time at Leicester has seen him struggle to nail down a regular starting spot in the team. The striker has, however, always been a reliable player that the club have turned to in his six seasons.
Iheanacho plays alongside Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi in the national team, with a reunion at club level now potentially on the cards. Steve Cooper is looking to strengthen his team in the upcoming transfer window.
Iheanacho could come in as a replacement for Sam Surridge, who has been linked with a move to Leeds United in recent days. Forest attacker Brennan Johnson has also been linked with a move away from the club with Aston Villa said to be showing an interest.
