Nottingham Forest are "on the verge" of sealing the shock signing of Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, according to reports.
Steve Cooper is keen to add to his squad in the final couple of days of the transfer window as he looks to lead the Reds further away from the Premier League relegation zone. Forest currently sit in 13th place in the league, four points clear of the bottom three.
It now seems that the Reds will turn to Shelvey to help them in the second half of the season. The Telegraph claim that the club are "on the verge" of completing the signing before Tuesday night’s transfer deadline, with the player "keen" on the switch to the City Ground.

Shelvey has made just three Premier League appearances for the Magpies so far this season. He has missed the majority of the campaign with injury but is close to making a return to full fitness.
The 30-year-old has been with Newcastle since January 2016, but has fallen down the pecking order at St James’ Park. His return to fitness would see him used as cover for Bruno Guimaraes should he not move in January.
Forest have added three new players to the squad so far this window with midfielders Gustavo Scarpa and Danilo joining, as well as striker Chris Wood signing on loan from Newcastle. The Reds have also been linked with an interest in Atletico Madrid defender Felipe in the final days of the window.
