Nottingham Forest miss out on Stoke City transfer target on deadline day

Stoke City goalkeeper Nathan Broome says he signed for AFC Wimbledon despite interest in him from Nottingham Forest.

The League One outfit confirmed on deadline day that they had signed the shot stopper on a free transfer following his departure from the Potters.

After signing for the Wombles, the 20-year-old revealed that Forest were one of the clubs that were interested in signing him, with Lincoln City being another.

“A few other clubs were interested – Nottingham Forest and Lincoln – but Bayzo and the pathway persuaded me," Broome told the club's official website.

"I came down on a week’s trial and fell in love. I felt his sessions were top draw. He’s worked with Aaron Ramsdale, Kelle Roos, and top keepers. That’s what I was looking for.”

He added: “The transition has been quite quick. Living in Manchester, it’s a big thing to move away, but Bayzo has been brilliant. He’s helped me settle in. I found out about Wimbledon’s interest in December. Bayzo and the Head Coach had been in touch and things moved pretty quickly."

Broome was previously at the Man City Academy before signing for Stoke City last year and went on to make 43 appearances for the club's youth sides.
