Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O'Brien travelled to have a medical at DC United today (Sunday), it has been reported.
The 24-year-old has flown out to the States for what will apparently be the first of three long-haul flights he needs to take in order to finalise his transfer away from Forest.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, O'Brien will need to fly back to Britain after his medical in order to get his work visa processed before he can move permanently to the United States.

DC United are managed by former Derby County manager and player Wayne Rooney. They also have Christian Benteke and Ravel Morrison in their squad, with O'Brien set to add more Premier League name value to their line-up.
The move Stateside has come about after Blackburn lost their appeal to take O'Brien on loan. There was a drawn out saga after the Championship club failed to file certain paperwork before the 11pm cut-off on transfer deadline day in January.
It initially left O'Brien in limbo, with the midfielder subsequently left out of Forest's 25-man squad for the remainder of the Premier League season. Despite Blackburn's best efforts to appeal the decision and put their case forward, O'Brien was left without any competitive football.
But Rooney has offered him a lifeline and, medical pending, the midfielder looks all set to continue his career in Major League Soccer over in the United States.
