Nottingham Forest make defender 'enquiry' after Alex Moreno transfer blow

Nottingham Forest have reportedly enquired about Villarreal left-back Pervis Estupinan.

This comes after the Reds suffered a £9million transfer blow from Real Betis' Alex Moreno, who rejected a move to the City Ground. Estupinan has made 73 outings for the Spanish side since his £15million move from Watford in 2020.

The 24-year-old contributed to Villarreal's success after they won the Europa League over Manchester United last season and reached the Champions League final last May. Forest, though, are apparently not alone in their pursuit, with a "host of top-flight clubs" including Tottenham, Lyon and Nice credited with an interest.

Estupinan is under contract at the Estadio de la Ceramica until 2027 and his current market value is said to be £18m, as per Transfermarkt.

Meanwhile, Moreno confirmed he would be staying at Betis, despite receiving an "important offer." The message posted on his social media read: "Hi Beticos and Beticas [Betis fans], I wanted to share this message with you all and say that Real Betis will continue being my home this season.

"But it's certain that the club and myself received a proposal from another club. I am grateful for the important offer I have received but after evaluating it, both Real Betis and I decided to continue walking together.

"The affection from the fans, the sports project and the confidence they have shown me from all levels has led me to put my commitment to Betis. I want to continue growing with Betis and all my effort will be aimed at doing my best to make this season unforgettable again."
