Nottingham Forest Make £20m Bid To Sign Yoane Wissa

Nottingham Forest have had a £20m bid rejected for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa

Wissa is one of Nottingham Forest’s top targets and were interested in signing the 28-year-old last summer.

He has also become a transfer target for Arsenal are in desperate need of a striker to boost their title chances.

Wissa has been in prolific form for the Bees, scoring 11 goals in 19 Premier League appearances this season.

The DR Congo international has also formed a deadly partnership with Bryan Mbeumo who has 14 goals in the league.

He has 37 top-flight goals for the club, recently overtaking Ivan Toney after scoring in the 2-2 draw against Manchester City.

Brentford Reject Nottingham Forest Bid For Yoane Wissa

The Telegraph have reported that Brentford have rejected a £20m offer from Nottingham Forest for Yoane Wissa.

Nottingham Forest’s offer is said to be far short of Brentford’s valuation of the striker.

Wissa would offer Forest extra firepower in their bid to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

They are also only six points off leaders Liverpool in the Premier League and are unbeaten in their last eight games in the competition.

However, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis will have to stump up a higher fee if Brentford would even consider selling one of their star players.

What Wissa Would Offer Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of Yoane Wissa comes at a time when Taiwo Awoniyi wants to leave having played second fiddle to the impressive Chris Wood this season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side would need another attacking option to Wood, and Wissa’s excellent conversion rate would make him a suitable signing.

In terms of conversion rate, Wissa is only behind Wood and current team-mate Bryan Mbeumo out of all players in the Premier League this season.

Wissa would likely play second fiddle to Wood though unless Santo can figure out a way of getting them to play alongside each other.

Santo could look at the excellent partnership that Wissa has formed with Mbeumo. The pair have netted 24 goals between them in the league this season and combined seven times for goals since the start of last season.

Mbeumo though plays out on the right while both Wissa and Wood would likely combat for the centre-forward position.
