Nottingham Forest linked with midfielder 'targeted' to replace France international at Marseilles

Nottingham Forest 'appreciate' Sporting Charleroi midfielder Adem Zorgane 'very much' according to reports from France.

The Reds are facing a busy transfer window following promotion to the Premier League a few weeks ago and one of the highest priorities is securing the loan members of Steve Cooper's squad or replacing them. James Garner, Keinan Davis, Djed Spence, Philip Zinckernagel and Max Lowe were all loan signings as Forest won the Championship play-off final 1-0 against Huddersfield Town.

Garner is set to be assessed by new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag during pre-season before a decision is made on his future, meaning Forest may have to recruit elsewhere to replace the midfielder, or simply look to strengthen that area of the squad even if Garner is back. The 21-year-old has impressed during his loan spells at the City Ground.

Now, reports from France have claimed that the club 'very much' appreciate Belgium Pro League midfielder Zorgane. The 22-year-old only signed for RSC Charleroi last summer from Algerian side Paradou AC and enjoyed an eye-catching season with two goals and six assists.

Les Zebres finished sixth in the Belgian top division, qualifying for the European play-offs. Zorgane can play as a defensive midfielder as well as further up the field behind the striker.

The report claims that Forest boss Cooper wants to take his time before coming to a final decision on the signing, with Will Smallbone and Morgan Gibbs-White also linked with a move to the City Ground this summer.

Forest are not the only team following the Algerian international, with French clubs rumoured to be keen. There has been talk within the French media that Zorgane could be signed by Marseille to replace Boubakar Kamara - who recently joined Aston Villa.
