Nottingham Forest-linked striker Tottenham's 'No . 1 target' amid Celtic exit rumours

Nottingham Forest are likely to face major competition for Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi, if reports of their interest come to fruition.

Steve Cooper ’s side have been name checked among the clubs who would like to recruit the 28 year old who netted 34 goals in all competitions to help Celtic win the league this past season.

Forest are in the market for a striker but The Sun says Tottenham are expected to make a move for the player, who was the top scorer and player of the year in Scotland.

That follows manager Andre Postocolglou’s move from Celtic to take charge at Spurs, an appointment that was confirmed this week.

  • Italian giants Lazio have also reportedly been scouting the player while reports suggest there is interest from Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.

Furuhashi joined Celtic two years ago when they paid Japanese club Vissel Kobe £4.7m. He missed out on Japan’s squad for last year’s World Cup but has been in terrific form in Scotland.

Speaking before Celtic’s Scottish Cup final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Furuhashi, who has two years left on his deal, said: "All the players here want to stay at Celtic for as long as they can and I’m one of them. At the same time, I cannot think too much about the future right now. You have to focus on a daily basis on the training pitch. But hopefully I can stay here and give everything I have.”
