Nottingham Forest injury update as next step up taken

Nottingham Forest defender Giulian Biancone has posted an injury update as he steps up his recovery.

The summer signing has been out of action since the end of October after picking up a serious knee injury in training. He had made just two Premier League appearances for the club since completing a move from French side Troyes in the summer.

Speaking back in November, Forest boss Steve Cooper confirmed that the player won’t play again until the start of next season after scans revealed the prognosis. “Unfortunately Giulian picked up a serious knee injury in training which will rule him out until the end of the season,” he said .

“It’s really difficult news for him, and a blow for us as well. I know he’s a player who hasn’t featured too much, but he’s a player who has been making good progress and who we really like.”

Following the injury blow, the full-back promised to keep fans updated on his progress as he started his recovery. He has kept that promise, back in November, the 22-year-old posted a video of himself walking without crutches for the first time.

Biancone has now taken to social media again to show the progress he has made. The full-back has shared a video on Twitter showing him running on a treadmill.

Alongside the 30-second clip, he wrote the caption: “on the way!” Biancone was one of the omissions from Forest’s 25-man Premier League squad submitted to the league last week following the January transfer window.

That means that even if he does recover quicker than expected, he will not be able to feature for the rest of the season. Concentration will purely be on getting back fit for the start of the new season.

Biancone was left out of the squad alongside fellow summer signing Omar Richards, who is yet to make an appearance for the club due to injury. Defender Steve Cook and midfielder Lewis O’Brien were also omitted, with the latter’s deadline day move to Blackburn Rovers in major doubt.
