Former Nottingham Forest loanee Renan Lodi will 'soon' be joining Marseille, according to a report.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Forest, making 32 appearances as Steve Cooperand his men secured their status as a Premier League club. His impressive displays led for calls from supporters to bring him back in the transfer window.

Forest did have an option to make the deal permanent in the loan agreement for around €25 million (£21.4m), but that expired before the end of the season. They could now miss out on the left-back, with a move to Marseille imminent.

Forest target move as Man Utd decision confirmed

David De Gea has announced his departure from Manchester United, and their goalkeeping department could be weakened still further as Nottingham Forest target a move for loan recruit Dean Henderson.

Henderson's future remains up in the air after returning to his parent club for pre-season, but the departure of Spain international de Gea after 545 appearances and 12 years at Old Trafford certainly complicates Forest's transfer ambitions.

United boss Erik ten Hag is set to hold talks with Henderson over his future amid claims he is keen to quit Old Trafford for more game time. United are currently without a number one and are believed to be pursuing a deal for Inter Milan's Andre Onana.

Ten Forest players with uncertain futures

Transfer activity is expected to ramp up in the coming weeks, now Nottingham Forest have returned for pre-season training.

The Reds need to bolster their ranks for the upcoming Premier League season, but they also need to trim numbers. Overseeing outgoings is as much of a priority as bringing in new faces.

Forest were already over the 25-man squad limit and space must also be made for any signings. That means several fringe players are likely to depart, while others face uncertainty over where they stand.
