Nottingham Forest will make the permanent signing of Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson one of their ‘top targets’ in the summer should they stay in the Premier League, according to reports.
The goalkeeper is currently on a season long loan from Old Trafford but is sidelined with an injury that is expected to keep him out until the end of the month. He injured his calf in the closing stages of Forest’s win over Leicester last month, causing the Reds to move in the transfer window to bring in a replacement.
That replacement turned out to be serial Champions League winner Keylor Navas, who has been demoted to number two for French giants Paris Saint-Germain this season. The Costa Rica international joined Forest on loan until the end of the season when a deal was resurrected on deadline day.

There is however no buy option inserted into the loan deal, meaning that the goalkeeper is likely to return to PSG at the end of the season. It is said that Navas’ name was first mentioned by club owner Evangelos Marinakis when searching for a replacement for Henderson. But the loan deal will leave Forest with a decision to make in the summer.
According to the Telegraph , a transfer meeting has already been held about the planning for the summer transfer window. In that meeting, a permanent move for Henderson was decided as one of the priorities.
Forest are said to have been encouraged by Henderson’s decision to reject the chance of returning to Manchester United six months early at the start of the January transfer window. The report adds that the Reds don’t expect to be as busy in the summer window should the club retain its Premier League status with ‘four or five high quality’ signings instead targeted.
