Nottingham Forest are said to have had a deadline day bid turned down for defender Jonathan Panzo.
The 21-year-old former Chelsea youngster has worked with Reds head coach Steve Cooper before, at England youth level.
Dijon have rejected an offer from Forest, according to RMC Sport, but discussions are said to be ongoing ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.
Panzo was at Stamford Bridge as a youngster, before making the move to Monaco in 2018 and going on to sign for fellow French side Dijon two years later.
He has made a total of 22 appearances in Ligue 1 so far this season.
Forest have made three signings so far this month, in on-loan Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis, centre-back Steve Cook and full-back Richie Laryea.
They are targeting further business before the January window closes, though, having been hit by injuries to front man Lewis Grabban and Cook in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Cardiff City.
Cook suffered a calf problem, with the Reds waiting to find out the extent of his injury.
Fellow centre-back Joe Worrall is also currently sidelined and is likely to be out of action for six weeks with the broken ribs he sustained in the 1-0 win at Millwall.
If Cook is ruled out for any length of time, it would leave Cooper short of options in the centre of the defence, although Loic Mbe Soh and Rodrigo Ely are back in training after their own injury absences.
Bolstering his attacking options is also a priority for Cooper in the remaining hours of deadline day, with the club closing in on Stoke City forward Sam Surridge.
