Nottingham Forest are said to have had an opening bid rejected for Liverpool defender Neco Williams.
The Reds are in need of right-back reinforcements as they prepare for their return to the Premier League. And with a string of suitors for Djed Spence, following his impressive loan spell at the City Ground, Williams is a target for head coach Steve Cooper.
Forest submitted an initial offer of approximately £11m, with extras worth about £4m, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon. But that has reportedly been turned down.

A £15m price tag has been touted, with Liverpool said to want “a larger guaranteed sum” for the 21-year-old. Fulham, where he spent the second half of last season, have also been linked, amid an expected summer departure from Anfield.
However, Williams knows Cooper from working with him in Liverpool’s academy. And he is said to be “keen” to link up with the Reds boss again.
The Wales international made 15 appearances and scored two goals as he helped the Cottagers secure the Championship title last term. He made his senior debut for Liverpool in 2019 and has featured 33 times for his parent club.
Forest are currently short of options to fill the right wing-back spot, after the end of Spence’s loan spell. January signing Richie Laryea is capable of playing on either flank but has struggled for game time since his move from Toronto.
