Here’s the latest Nottingham Forest news on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
Forest told how to avoid Newcastle repeat
Tim Sherwood believes that Nottingham Forest lacked bravery in their opening day defeat at Newcastle United, but has offered at least one positive that Steve Cooper and his players can take from the game.
The Reds' return to the Premier League did not match the fairy tale that preceded it last season. The Magpies dominated proceedings at St James' Park, winning the game through second-half goals from Fabian Schär and Callum Wilson.
It was a humbling experience for the visitors, who had waited 23 years to be taught a cruel lesson - the top flight takes no prisoners. The result leaves them third from bottom, exactly where they won't want to be come the end of May.

Target confirms transfer decision
Nottingham Forest have suffered a transfer blow after Alex Moreno rejected a move to the City Ground.
The Real Betis defender had been on the Reds' radar throughout the summer transfer window. Forest were said to be confident of landing the 29-year-old - with a medical reportedly set to be scheduled this week.
But in a message posted on his social media, Moreno confirmed he would be staying at Betis. It read: "Hi Beticos and Beticas [Betis fans], I wanted to share this message with you all and say that Real Betis will continue being my home this season.
Forest told key to Premier League survival
Premier League commentator Darren Fletcher reckons Nottingham Forest's top-flight fate will be decided in matches at the City Ground rather than those away from home this season.
Second-half goals from Fabian Schär and Callum Wilson at St James' Park saw the Reds start the season with a 2-0 loss to Newcastle United . The result seems to have popped pre-season optimism at the City Ground in an instant despite holding the nouveau riche North East side scoreless for the best part of an hour.
Steve Cooper 's side were the only newly promoted side playing away from home on the opening weekend, with Bournemouth and Fulham pulling off shock results on their own patch. Forest have their opportunity to do just that at the end of this week against West Ham United on Trentside.
Forest told to ‘walk away’ from Gibbs-White transfer
Nottingham Forest fans have told the club to ‘walk away’ from a deal for number one transfer target Morgan Gibbs-White after figures of their latest offer were reported.
It was claimed late last week that Forest saw an offer of up to £35 million rejected by Wolves for the midfielder. The player was then named in Wolves’ starting line-up for their Premier League encounter vs Leeds United less than 24 hours.
However, more details have now emerged over the rejected offer, with Sky Sports claiming that add-ons in the deal were worth £17m instead of £10m that was initially reported. It means that the total fee, including add-ons would have been £42m.
