Nottingham Forest goalkeeper debate sparked as West Ham question posed

Drawing with Manchester City shows how much progress Nottingham Forest have made this season, according to striker Chris Wood.

But he is confident there is still plenty more to come from Steve Cooper’s side as they fight to retain their Premier League status. As one of seven January signings, the 31-year-old believes the group will continue to get stronger as they get to know each other better.

Wood came off the bench to net the equaliser on Saturday, extending the Reds’ unbeaten Premier League run at home to eight games and leaving them five points clear of the relegation zone. The result was in stark contrast to the reverse fixture back in August, when City cruised to a 6-0 thumping.

Tactics questioned

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has questioned David Moyes' tactical formation as they head into an absolutely crucial game against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

The Hammers lost 2-0 to Tottenham on Sunday, meaning they have won just one of their last 11 Premier League games. That run of form leaves them inside the relegation zone, two points off bottom side Southampton.

David Moyes is coming under increased pressure as speculation swirls about his future in the dugout. The Scottish manager is reportedly secure in his job even if they lose to the Reds on Saturday.

West Ham barely troubled Spurs at the weekend, taking just six shots in the entire game. Speaking after the game, Rice suggested that Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen were "a bit isolated" due to the team's 5-3-2 formation.

Goalkeeper call

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Dean Henderson should replace fellow loanee Keylor Navas in goal when he returns from injury, according to Darren Fletcher.

Forest moved to strengthen their goalkeeping options in the January transfer window following injury to Henderson in the 2-0 win over Leicester City earlier in the month. The on loan Manchester United man picked up a thigh injury in the closing stages of the game and has missed the last six matches in all competitions.

While the Reds turned to fellow summer signing Wayne Hennessey as a short term replacement, they moved quickly to bring in Champions League winner Navas on loan from Paris Saint-Germain on deadline day.

The 36-year-old has become an instant fan favourite at the City Ground, his saves helping the Reds record a 1-0 win over Leeds United and a 1-1 draw with Man City in the last two home games.

High praise

Rock star and Manchester City fan Liam Gallagher has delivered his verdict on his team’s draw against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

The Reds secured what could be a vital point in the race for Premier League survival at the end of the season, coming back from 1-0 down to earn a 1-1 draw at the City Ground.

Chris Wood was on hand to poke the ball in at the back post with just six minutes of the game left to play after Bernardo Silva’s opener in the 41st minute. The goal was Forest’s only shot on target, and just their fourth shot of the game.

The point moved the Reds back up above fellow midlands side Leicester City in the table. Forest now sit in 13th place in the league, five points above West Ham in the final relegation position.
