Nottingham Forest fixture update emerges as Brice Samba take Ligue 1 by storm

Your Nottingham Forest digest for Sunday, September 11.

'Resourcing issues' to be assessed ahead of Forest vs Fulham

Governing bodies will continue to assess any possible impact the Queen’s funeral on September 19 could have with scheduled sports fixtures and events, the PA news agency reports.

All football fixtures in the UK were postponed this weekend, plus Nottingham Forest 's Premier League match at Leeds United on Monday, along with Friday and Saturday’s planned horse racing meetings, as a mark of respect following the Queen’s death on Thursday. However, many other sporting occasions went ahead, offering spectators and participants opportunities to pay their respects.

The official mourning guidance, published by the Government on Friday morning, stated there was no obligation on sports organisations to cancel or reschedule events. As it stands, the scheduled English Football League programme is set to recommence on Tuesday.

Two statements issued amid police concerns for Fulham update

Nottingham Forest will have to wait for a decision whether their Premier League clash with Fulham will go ahead following the postponement of the game against Leeds United.

t's expected that thousands of police officers from across the nation will be required to work in the capital for the Queen's funeral - rumoured to be taking place on Monday, September 19.

However, despite the mass redeployment of officers, there seems to be a willingness on the police's part to ensure football returns next weekend. The Metropolitan Police told our sister title football.london : "Whether matches go ahead is a matter for the football authorities. If fixtures do take place, the Met will work with the relevant partners and ensure that appropriate policing plans are in place."

Former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba is taking Ligue 1 by storm.

The 28 year-old joined RC Lens this summer after turning down the offer of a new contract at Nottingham Forest. He is still highly regarded by Reds fans after playing such a key role in earning the team promotion back to the Premier League.

Since joining Lens, Samba has played every minute of their opening seven Ligue 1 games and they have shocked the country by sitting at the top of the table. Lens secured a 1-0 win at home to Troyes yesterday - another clean sheet for Samba - which has earned him praise in France and sees his side above star-studded Paris Saint-Germain in the table.

What Steve Cooper has said about Forest contract as Brighton draw up 'shortlist'

Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper is reportedly on Brighton and Hove Albion’s shortlist of potential candidates as they search for a new manager.

Following the departure of Graham Potter to Chelsea, to replace the sacked Thomas Tuchel, there is a vacancy at the Amex Stadium. Cooper, Bodo/Glimt boss Kjetil Knutsen, Luton Town’s Nathan Jones and Swansea City chief Russell Martin are said to be on the Seagulls’ list of possible options.

However, The Athletic claim Cooper “would be expensive to get”. It comes as the Welshman approaches his one-year anniversary at the City Ground, a date which also holds some significance when it comes to his contract.
