Nottingham Forest supporters have responded to relegation rivals Leeds United's defeat against Manchester City this afternoon.
Leeds fell to a 2-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium, with Ilkay Gundogan netting a brace in the first half. Rodrigo Moreno then scored the first with five minutes from time, giving the visitors a glimpse of hope.
Gundogan missed a late penalty, which Pep Guardiola wanted Erling Haaland to take, while Haaland missed a host of chances to further dent Leeds' goal difference.
It was Sam Allardyce's first game in charge after succeeding Javi Gracia in the hot-seat. The result means that Leeds remain 17th place and level on 30 points with the Reds who will host Southampton on Monday.
Here's how the Forest faithful responded on social media...
NFFC Nation: "Almost had a heart attack in the end..."
Mark Poyser: "Is anyone actually praising Leeds here or worried they’ll pull away. They were bad. City didn’t get out of first gear and should still have scored ten. There was no improvement there just luck. Newcastle will stick five past them."
JJ: "We were never staying up on goal difference, it’s purely a points game game for us. It’s in our hands to pick up the points!"
Mike Nffc: "Doesn’t really matter, they lost that’s the main thing and it’s back in our own hands, beat Southampton and we’re out the bottom 3 regardless of what result Everton get on Monday."
Dave: "Leeds showing fight in the 2d half against City. Still lost, but all the more reason to ensure we beat Southampton Monday and go 3 points clear of them. Because they will fight for everything under Big Sam!"
Hannah Forest: "We have such a huge chance on Monday. Everton are at Brighton. Leicester at Fulham. Forest at home to Southampton. If everything goes to plan we can be three points clear. But things rarely go to plan."
Gav: "City were awful in front of goal should have had loads more."
Nick: "A City off day.. Not! A big Sam masterclass tbf."
James: "I'm really hoping that our goal difference doesn't come back to bite us."
Tony: "Could have done with City scoring 6 or more against Leeds today, can't help feeling our poor goal difference could end up being significant."
WollatonRed: "Behold the naivety of Cooper, haven’t watched the City game, but I imagine big Sam set his team up so Leeds wouldn’t concede many, why did Cooper not do this against Man City away, Arsenal away, Leicester away."
ColinG97: "Of course Haaland has a real off day... if they were going in Leeds goal difference would be so close by now."
Paul Richardson: "Would be 6/7 if Haaland could finish! Ignore the result it’s zero points if it’s 1-0 or 6/0 - they have been easily beaten."
