Nottingham Forest fans send emphatic message after club-record Brennan Johnson bid rejected

Nottingham Forest fans have reacted to the "best news of the transfer window" after the Reds rejected a club-record bid for star winger Brennan Johnson.

Brentford submitted another offer for the Wales international on Wednesday only for it to be turned down after a "unanimous" decision by the club's board.

The Bees have long been linked with a move for the former Lincoln City loanee who has produced a series of stellar performances for the Reds this season.

And that has also attracted the interest of Newcastle and Leeds United, although Brentford are the only side to have tabled an offer so far.

The Telegraph's John Percy said on Twitter: "#nffc have rejected a club record offer from #BrentfordFC for Brennan Johnson and are adamant he will not be leaving in this window.

"Decision is understood to be unanimous from the Forest board, after multiple bids, and they now consider the matter closed."

Forest fans have been reacting on social media and here's what they had to say on Twitter.

LowerBridgMart: "This confirms my belief that we are finally backing ourselves to get promoted, very good signs on and off the pitch being made!! Finally."

Sco1ney: "What a statement of intent from the club and backing of our wonderful manager."

NFFC Trent End: "This is literally the best news of the transfer window for #nffc "

Jason: "Get Bowler and Wallace in. Get behind the boys and dare to dream."

Mick Byrom: "Superb news , best signing of the window #nffc showing serious ambition here."

Owen Summers: "Over the moon to read that, something clearly has changed within the club. Time to kick on and make the hard work off the pitch count."

DJ: " Something special is finally happening at our great club."

Dylan Astill: "Now we can put this to bed and get on with the season. Thank God he is staying."

Darren: "This is great news. Come on Forest let’s do this now."
