Nottingham Forest fans pile in on Josh Bowler 'rejected' transfer claim

Nottingham Forest fans have reacted to the latest development regarding the failed Josh Bowler transfer.

Forest faced competition for the Blackpool youngster with fellow Championship sides Bournemouth, Fulham, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City all said to be keen.

It appeared to come down to Forest and Bournemouth on deadline day with Blackpool rejecting a series of bids. Forest were understood to be ready to go to £3m to get the deal done.

The move in the end, however, did not materialise and journalist Pete O'Rourke now claims Bowler rejected a move to the City Ground.

"Understand Blackpool winger Josh Bowler rejected a deadline-day move to Nottingham Forest after the two clubs finally agreed a fee following several rejected bids during the transfer window," he said on Twitter.

Many Forest faithful then responded to O'Rourke's tweet, which Nottinghamshire Live understands to be wide of the mark.

Dave Ball: "If true then it was up to Bowler, ultimately Blackpool believed in him and gave him an opportunity so maybe… just maybe it’s a little thing called loyalty. As long as he doesn’t turn it on against us then onwards and upwards."

Tricky Red: "Why would anyone turn down forest to stay at Blackpool."

Mike: "Just don’t believe stuff like this. Why would Forest make so many bids and reach the asking price if they hadn’t already had strong indication from Bowler’s agent that he was interested in a move?"

Daniel: "Guess he didn’t want Prem football next year."

Matt: "I find it really difficult to believe that during a pursuit of a player throughout an entire month, neither his current club or the club trying trying sign him have actually checked if he fancies the move."

Athletic Endurance: "He's not a forest player then so good luck to him at the mighty Blackpool we move on with the players actually at the club."

Scrambble33: "Surely we didn’t spend all these weeks working and chasing someone who didn’t want to actually join us!"

NFFCFamily: "Can't see that, to say that the club made several enquiries and bids on the player beforehand."

Scott Helmkay: "Fair play, off we move then."
