Nottingham Forest fans deliver 'horrible' verdict as Bournemouth clinch promotion

Nottingham Forest's hopes of automatic promotion are over after Kieffer Moore's effort fired Bournemouth back to the Premier League on Tuesday evening.

Forest started the fixture tentatively but slowly grew into proceedings with a handful of chances coming the way of Brennan Johnson and Sam Surridge in the first half, with the latter striking the woodwork.

Steve Cooper's side went in level at the half but could've been facing a 1-0 deficit if it wasn't for the immense concentration of Jack Colback, who tracked his runner at the back post and cleared the ball to safety from an almost certain goal.

Forest did have a shout for a penalty just before the break as Surridge was brought down in the area, but before Stuart Atwell had to make a decision the offside flag was raised, despite the striker appearing to be onside in the build-up to the incident.

A scrappy second half with Forest finding themselves on the back foot for the majority of the time then followed, as the hosts pushed for all three points to ensure their promotion into the top flight of English football once again.

The game dwindled down to the 80th minute until Jordan Zemura was brought down by Scott McKenna on the edge of the box. Phillip Billing then laid the ball off to Kieffer Moore from the resulting set piece who slotted his shot past Brice Samba and fired Bournemouth back to the Premier League.

Forest will now turn their focus to the play-offs. Here is what some Reds fans have had to say following the disappointing result...

@NFFC_FPL: Fair play to Bournemouth, they've deserved it based on that 2nd half.

@lewis_tinker: It's what Forest get for doing absolutely nothing. Won't even win playoffs if they play like this.

@henjohansen1: Had to come, got what we deserved for that horrible second half. So sad.

@jacksmatthew: It was coming. Not turned up in the second half.

@Shipwreck: Been all Bournemouth second half.

@williamsmith: Got the playoffs t look forward to...

James Phillips: Was coming to be fair, outplayed all game.

John Knight: As a Forest fan, best team is winning in the second half. Forest not turned up.

@BlueBelle: Keinan ball without Keinan doesn't work.
