Nottingham Forest fans all say the same thing after huge Man Utd update on James Garner

James Garner could end up signing for Nottingham Forest permanently this summer, it has been claimed.

The midfielder has been outstanding for the Reds this season, playing a key role as Steve Cooper’s side have sped into automatic promotion contention. Garner’s preference would be to return to parent club Manchester United this summer and fight for a first-team place under Erik ten Hag, who looks set to be installed as the next manager at Old Trafford.

However, with a big overhaul expected this summer, regular first-team football cannot be guaranteed. And if he failed to secure that at Man United, it has been claimed by transfer insider Dean Jones that his loan to Forest could become permanent.

Here’s what Forest fans have been saying about Garner and the potential of him extending his stay at the City Ground…

Will Scarlet: He's been great, but not significantly more than Yates or Colback, and Konate or Fornah could be just as good. We are a bit slow committing to our home-grown young talent. Up front, Swan and Osapa Osong at the very least should be in the first team squad next season. Don't spend silly money, and give our youth its chance.

WibblyWobbly: If anyone knows about bringing the youth through and who can cut it it’s coops. If he doesn’t think they are ready and or good enough for the first team he won’t risk them. Garners dynamism, reading of the game and his vision is above his years and should only improve and he seems to be week on week. Yates has been rock solid and importantly knows his strengths and limits, he’s a very different style of player to Garner. So much credit needs to go to colback for how he’s seamlessly slotted in anywhere he’s been required, he’s done a fantastic job and probably won’t get the credit he deserves. Garner is destined for premier league football in my opinion and I hope that’s with us.

David Worley: i say keep him if you can.

Bill Turner: You know it makes sense Rodders lol.......stick with the Trickies and be a main player.

Karen Pryce: If true, that would be fantastic if we can keep Garner.

Gary Hayball: Any chance of him staying is with us is dependent on us going up ..he could easily fit into a number of premier league teams.

Toby Brittain: He has a great bond with Yates and Johnson and other players. Would be great if wants to stay with Forest.

Phil Hendry: So much depends on promotion and then if we have the funds to negotiate.
