Nottingham Forest face a race against time if they want reported target Serge Aurier available to face former club Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
The Reds are back in Premier League action on Sunday afternoon as they host Antonio Conte’s men at the City Ground. Forest picked up all three points in their first home game of the season against West Ham and will be hoping to repeat that trick against another London side.
Steve Cooper can call on a number of summer signings for the clash, having brought a total of 16 new players so far this season. That number looks like it will increase before the end of the window.

One name who has been linked is former Tottenham full-back Serge Aurier. The 29-year-old is currently without a club after leaving Villarreal at the end of last season.
Forest are on the lookout for reinforcements at right-back, with reports claiming that the Ivory Coast international is closing in on a move to the City Ground. The Daily Mail claim that the full-back has undergone a medical with the club ahead of signing a one year contract with the option of a further year.
Should a deal go through, Forest have a deadline to meet should they wish for the player to be available to take on the club he left in just last summer. Premier League rules state that a player must be signed and registered by 12pm on the Friday before a weekend game in order to be eligible.
It means that Aurier would have to be registered by 12pm tomorrow in order to feature against Tottenham. It gives Forest a matter of hours to complete a deal.
If that deadline isn’t met and the player does complete a move to the club, he won’t have too much longer to wait to face his former club, with Forest drawn against Spurs in the third round of the Carabao Cup, a game which will take place in early November.
