Nottingham Forest face six big transfer decisions ahead of January window

Nottingham Forest's busy summer transfer window gained a huge amount of attention, but January could make or break the season.

Every club will be looking to do business when the market reopens, particularly those down near the bottom of the table as they bid to beat the Premier League trapdoor.

The Reds will certainly look to bring in some new faces on top of the 23 players they brought in during the summer, just like they did last winter. In many ways that window was the catalyst for the club's promotion to the top flight.

The likes of Lyle Taylor and Harry Arter were sent out on loan as they were surplus to requirements, while Sam Surridge, Keinan Davis and Steve Cook were brought in. All three played a key role on their way to winning the Championship play-offs.

Forest need a repeat of that success if they are to survive this season. It's not just about who they bring in, but who they can offload too in order to shape the squad to Steve Cooper's specifications.

Taylor is once again looking at a mid-season move having failed to make a Premier League appearance. Surridge has fared only slightly better with one start from nine appearances.

Jack Colback also played a big part in gaining promotion, but like Surridge he is struggling for gametime. Meanwhile, Cafu, Loic Mbe Soh and goalkeeper Jordan Smith could be looking for new clubs.
