Nottingham Forest face fresh transfer battle as Premier League club have winger 'in their sights'

Nottingham Forest could face a battle should they revisit their interest in winger Josh Bowler in the summer.

The Reds tried to sign the Blackpool ace during the January transfer window in a bid to bolster their options in the wide areas.

They had multiple bids turned down and went head-to-head with Bournemouth for his signature on deadline day, in a dramatic finish to the month.

Bowler ended up staying put at Bloomfield Road, however, despite also being linked with Fulham, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City.

He has continued to show the kind of form which made him a wanted man last month, and now another name has seemingly been added to his list of admirers.

Premier League Leicester City have been “checking in on” the 22-year-old, according to TEAMtalk, and have him “in their sights” ahead of the summer.

Wolverhampton Wanderers, Norwich City and Brentford are also said to have shown an interest in the Seasiders star.

Bowler has hit a purple patch in recent weeks, with his goal against QPR in midweek his fourth in his last six appearances. He has found the net six times in 36 games in total so far this season.

Asked if the player not going anywhere was down to clubs - notably Forest - not meeting Blackpool’s asking price, boss Neil Critchley recently said: “You’ve got to know your own player’s value first and foremost.

“We didn’t want one of our best players to be leaving the club without being able to replace him as well, so timing is crucial.”

The Reds made five signings in January, with Sam Surridge and Jonathan Panzo joining just before the window closed.

Keinan Davis, Steve Cook and Richie Laryea had joined earlier in the month.
