Nottingham Forest face Barcelona competition for fresh Brazilian wonderkid amid transfer links

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Brazilian forward Giovani but face competition from Barcelona, it is claimed.

The highly rated 19-year-old has scored two goals alongside four assists during the early days of his career as a professional player. He made his first senior appearance for Palmeiras at the beginning of the year.

Giovani's potential arrival at the City Ground would see him join three other Brazilians in Steve Cooper's squad. The Reds also have Felipe, Danilo and Gustavo Scarpa as part of their team, while Renan Lodi is about to see his loan spell come to an end.

And now Nosso Palmeiras claim that the Reds will 'open their wallets' to try and sign him. They also claim that he has been a target for Barcelona and Ajax.

The report describes him as 'strong, fast, skilful and a good finisher,' with the teenager valued at around £50 million. They also claim that Barca 'have not yet submitted a proposal' which would be similar to Forest's but that is 'likely to happen in the coming days.'

If Giovani did join the Reds he will be playing in a team who are guaranteed to be playing Premier League football next season. Forest secured their top-flight status for another campaign with a game to spare after last weekend's 1-0 win over Arsenal.
