Here are your Nottingham Forest headlines on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
Adams interest
Forest are said to be interested in Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams ahead of an important summer transfer window.
Head coach Steve Cooper has previously indicated there will be changes to his squad as the Reds look to progress in the Premier League next season. The club have already published their retained list, with six players and three loanees departing at the end of their contracts.
Further outgoings, as well as incomings, are expected - and the centre of the pitch is an area Forest will likely look to strengthen. Adams is one of the names under consideration for a move to the City Ground, according to the Daily Mail.
The USA international is said to be in line to depart Elland Road following the club’s relegation to the Championship. But there is likely to be plenty of interest in securing his services, with his agent having reportedly met clubs last week and Manchester United having previously been linked.
Mendy link
Forest will rival teams from around Europe for the signature of French midfielder Batista Mendy, according to reports.
The 23-year-old is attracting interest from the Premier League, Germany, Spain and his home nation, L’Equipe say, after being relegated with Angers this season. It is not expected that he will follow the club to Ligue 2.
Despite his club finishing bottom of the French top flight with a measly 18 points from 38 games, Mendy was a consistent performer, and those displays have not gone unnoticed.
With just a year left on his deal, there are plenty of clubs looking to give him a new home, with L’Equipe expecting he will be available for as little as €4m (£3.5m).
United hope
Manchester United are reportedly not looking to recall Dean Henderson with the Red Devils hoping his loan spell to Forest can be turned into a permanent move.
The goalkeeper has impressed during his loan spell at the City Ground this season having made vital saves for the Reds earlier in the campaign before picking up a season-ending injury in January.
Forest responded to Henderson's injury by signing former Real Madrid shot-stopper Keylor Navas on-loan. The Costa Rican also had an impressive impact but will be returning to his parent club Paris Saint-Germain.
With Navas and Henderson's loan spells coming to an end, it leaves Forest with a goalkeeping dilemma as Wayne Hennessey will be the only senior option at the club.
Dutch friendly
Forest have added a second pre-season friendly to their summer schedule.
The Reds will take on PSV Eindhoven at Philips Stadion on Sunday, July 30. The match against the 24-time Dutch champions will kick off at 6.30pm local time in the Netherlands.
Forest say they are “in discussions” to arrange another fixture against Dutch opposition the preceding Friday (July 21). Ticket details for the PSV match, as well as details of further friendlies, are to be announced in due course.
A meeting with neighbours Notts County has already been announced as Steve Cooper’s side put together their plans ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. They will face the Magpies at Meadow Lane on Saturday, July 15 (1pm).
