Nottingham Forest 'enquire' about Champions League striker with low asking price

Nottingham Forest have enquired about Dinamo Zagreb forward Mislav Oršić, according to a report in Croatia.

The forward turned down the chance to join Burnley in the January transfer window after the Clarets made an £8m offer. He has previously rejected moves to Birmingham City and West Brom and was handsomely rewarded with a new contract.

According to Croatian newspaper Jutarnji list, Forest are yet to make an official offer and it has only been a "feeling out" process so far. They say it is "assumed" that Oršić, who turns 30 in December, will leave the club if an acceptable offer comes in. The Croatian club are said to want a fee in the region of €7-8m (£6-6.8m) to allow him to move on.

Ideally, Dinamo want to keep Oršić until they qualify for the Champions League as it would put the club in a much healthier position financially. They play in the second qualifying round this month, but it seems likely that the player, who is said to have 'legend' status at the club, will move on. Whether that will be to Forest remains to be seen.

Forest have already bolstered their forward ranks with the addition of Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin this summer. He scored 15 goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances last season and his arrival has been highly praised from those in the football world.

Sam Surridge and Lyle Taylor are the club's other out-and-out strikers, though Brennan Johnson has shown he is more than capable of playing up front. The club had been linked with Cyle Larin, but it is understood Forest were never interested and he has instead joined Olympiacos - also owned by Evangelos Marinakis - on a free transfer.
