Nottingham Forest 'drawn out of the hat twice' in Women's FA Cup third round draw

The Vitality Women's FA Cup third-round draw was thrown into chaos on Monday night when Nottingham Forest were drawn out of the hat twice.

Following the second round of the competition on Sunday, the draw took place on talkSPORT2's Women's Football Weekly show. Forest Women were in the mix for the northern section after they beat Wem Town 5-1 over the weekend.

Women's Championship sides enter the competition at this stage, but the draw left listeners confused when Forest were read out twice. Stoke City, on the other hand, were initially not named at all.

“They’ve messed up this draw so badly, Nottm forest drawn twice… Stoke not drawn at all," one fan wrote on Twitter.

"Are Nottm Forest playing twice, then?" another wrote.

"Was it me or did Notts Forest get two Women's FA Cup ties?" said another.

Andy Cook's side were drawn against both Leeds United and Sheffield United. However, as Stoke City were ball number 15 in the draw, they should have been named as the opponent for Leeds.

The draw was not carried out a second time, despite the mistake. Instead, it was confirmed Stoke would face a trip to Leeds, while Forest will take on Championship side Sheffield United.

Third-round matches will take place on Sunday, December 11 with 20 matches in total across the northern and southern sections. Women's Super League sides will enter the competition at the fourth-round stage.
