Nottingham Forest discover Keylor Navas transfer cost as Steve Cooper searches for ‘solution’

Nottingham Forest are the club showing the ‘most interest’ in Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas, according to reports.

Steve Cooper is potentially on the lookout for a replacement for Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson with the goalkeeper ruled out until the end of February with a calf injury that he picked up in the win over Leicester City. According to Mundo Deportivo , Navas is considered a ‘first-rate solution.’

The report says that Forest are the ‘most interested’ in the goalkeeper in the January window, but fellow Premier League sides Leicester and AFC Bournemouth have also ‘asked’ about the player. Navas has struggled for game time for PSG this season, falling behind Gianluigi Donnarumma in the pecking order.

His lack of game time means that PSG may be willing to let Navas go in January. La Parisien (via SportWitness ) have reported that Navas is valued at around €5 million, but the stumbling block could be his wages.

The report says that the goalkeeper’s salary is ‘estimated at €12m a year’, meaning that he is likely to have to take a pay cut should he move in January. Forest are again named ‘among the suitors’ for the Costa Rica international.

Navas has made a total of 453 club appearances over his career with the 36-year-old playing another 110 times for Costa Rica on the international stage. He joined PSG from Real Madrid back in the summer of 2019 and has played a total of 107 times for the French champions, keeping a total of 49 clean sheets.

A potential arrival to the City Ground would add more experience to Steve Cooper’s side, and would strengthen the goalkeeping department, especially while Henderson is on the sidelines. Reserve goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey is currently stepping in for the Man Utd loanee.
