Nottingham Forest dealt late transfer blow as midfielder stance revealed

Nottingham Forest target Houssem Aouar will be staying put at Lyon this summer, according to a report.

Aouar was heavily linked with a move to the City Ground over the summer but there will be no late move to the East Midlands for the Lyon midfielder. Reports in the French media say he will be staying put, though could potentially move again in January.

According to French newspaper L'Equipe, Aouar will be staying put despite having "reached an agreement" with Forest around a fortnight ago. They also note that Lyon rejected three bids from Forest for the 24-year-old, the last of those being in the region of €15m.

Sevilla and Fulham reportedly had a late interest in signing the midfielder, while he was also linked with Leicester City among a number of other Premier League clubs.

Forest have announced one deadline day deal so far, with defender Willy Boly joining from Premier League rivals Wolves. That took head coach Steve Cooper's signings tally for 19 with the summer, with more possible before the deadline at 11pm.
