Here’s the latest Nottingham Forest news on Saturday, August 6, 2022.
Squad numbers announced
Nottingham Forest have announced their squad numbers for the new 2022/23 Premier League season.
Steve Cooper has so far welcomed 12 new signings including Jesse Lingard and club record signing Taiwo Awoniyi in their push for a successful season, after their return to English top-flight following 23 years away.
The Reds are expected to offload some players during the summer transfer window, as well as bring in further additions, but that does not stop a squad list from being confirmed. The list also features 18 academy players.
Tellingly, there is no number ten allocated as Forest continue their efforts to recruit Morgan Gibbs-White who is a prime candidate to take the number if he were to move to the City Ground.

Andy Reid steps up
Nottingham Forest have appointed former Reds player Andy Reid to Steve Cooper's first-team coaching staff on a permanent basis after a successful spell as under-23s boss.
The 40-year-old makes the step up to senior football for the first time as a coach, having spent the last 18 months coaching Forest 's academy side after initially returning to the club in January 2020 and spending a year assisting Chris Cohen on a casual basis. He has also previously been a head coach on the international stage with the Republic of Ireland under-18s.
As a player, Reid made almost 300 appearances for the Reds across two stints at the City Ground. The Dubliner has spoken of his honour of continuing to progress at the club.
Sutton's 'tricky' prediction
Nottingham native Chris Sutton is predicting Newcastle United to edge Nottingham Forest on their return to the Premier League this weekend.
The Reds face a tough return to the top-flight on Saturday afternoon at St James' Park up against a Newcastle United side that ended last season as one of the form teams in the Premier League after comfortably avoiding relegation. Steve Cooper 's side are also being backed to achieve that goal by Sutton at the end of this coming campaign.
That is largely down to their work in the transfer market to date, with the strengthening in midfield through to arrivals of Jesse Lingard and Orel Mangala highlighted as good bits of business. It is not seen as enough to secure a positive result on their travels from the off, though.
Gibbs-White transfer blow
Nottingham Forest have reportedly had a 'final' bid of up to £35million for Morgan Gibbs-White rebuffed by Wolves.
The midfielder has been subject of interest from several clubs this summer following his impressive loan spell with Sheffield United. Forest are said to have submitted their latest offer on Friday of £25m plus £10m in add-ons.
According to The Athletic, it is understood that the Reds' officials communicated that was their final offer while Wolves' response was that they would not sell the 22-year-old midfielder.
However, the report states that conversations could continue if the proposal was to be improved. Wolves have been told by Gibbs-White's representatives that they will not discuss a new contract, with him coming to the end of his current deal in 2024, David Ornstein reports.
