Nottingham Forest could 'shelve' transfer plans after huge Steve Cooper boost

Nottingham Forest are 'likely' to end their search for a new goalkeeper before the end of the window after receiving good news on Dean Henderson's recovery from injury.

Henderson picked up a thigh problem in the 2-0 win over Leicester City earlier this month but according to the Independent, he could make his return on February 11 for the trip to Fulham. That means the England international will miss just one more league match, which is the home clash with Leeds United next weekend.

Forest boss Steve Cooper admitted last week that the club were toying with the idea of bringing in a new goalkeeper in Henderson's absence, with Paris Saint Germain's Keylor Navas heavily linked. Navas has been one of the best in the world in his position in recent years and would've represented a significant coup for Forest but, with Henderson not far off a return, a deal now looks unlikely.

Experienced shot-stopper Wayne Hennessey has been the man to step in for Henderson in his absence, starting the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth in the league and the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup semi-finals. Henderson would've missed the game against the latter anyway, due to being ineligible to face his parent club.

The 25-year-old has proved to be one of Forest's best signings from their incredible summer transfer window, keeping six clean sheets in his 18 league appearances so far. He had also conceded just one goal in his last four matches prior to be picking up the injury.
